I would like to start by saying that we appreciate all the volunteers (like ourselves) that came out to share there time and experience during the recent Coaches Clinic at Colina MS.
After talking with some of the other coaches and participants I think a little restructuring may be appropriate.
Practice Court Sign-ups
1. Current: Youngest Teams get first choice of court days and times. I assume this is due to the fact the the younger kids need earlier practice times. This is true, but with the addition of High School aged players we really have three classes (elementary, middle school and High School).
2. Proposed: My suggestion is to block the earlier times for the Elementary and let the middle school and high school teams pick via lottery. The flow could go as:
a. comments and motivational speaches and CYBA rules review
b. uniform form collection and lottery for middle school and HS courts
c. middle school and HS pick courts in accordance with lottery
d. coaches clinic
Coaching Clinic
1. Current: Manditory for all parties.
2. Proposed: Only the first 15 mins be manditory, then we do the Court Sign-ups and then the "clinic" part should be optional for "returning" CYBA coaches. This will allow for more personalized help with newer coaches or returning coaches seeking this type of help.
