This league is open to both boys and girls from 1st grade through High School and will be split into divisions based on grade levels with boys and girls playing separately.
Spring League – This is a league starting after Spring Break and finishing at the end of the school year, and is designed for boys and girls from 3rd grade through High School. Although games are refereed and scored, there are no playoffs and no all star games. Practices are typically indoors, and players can choose to play with friends.
Blacktop League – This league takes place during July with games typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are usually 8 games, and very few practices. This league is designed for kids just to have fun playing basketball, getting game experience, and players can choose to play with their friends.

What are the Evaluations?
All players who register will be assigned a team. The evaluations are used to try to ensure that teams are evenly balanced, and will include a quick evaluation of dribbling, running, shooting and a quick scrimmage. To be eligible for the draft, players must attend 1 of the evaluations. Players not attending evaluations will be assigned to teams by the Division Directors. Expect to spend 30-45 minutes at the evaluations
How will the divisions and teams be formed?
Divisions will be formed based on grades, typically there will be a Division for each Boys grade, and Girls will be grouped into 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th and above. For 1st and 2nd graders teams will be formed by parent request and by school. For 3rd grades and up CYBA will conduct a draft on October 18th.
How do I sign up to coach a team?
Parent volunteering is our key to success and we need and welcome coaches. Please contact the Division Director on our website to enquire about coaching opportunities.
Can I read the rules for each division?
Yes, the rules are posted online by selecting the link for League Forms.
Can my child be on the same team as a friend?
You can make a request on the registration form to play with a friend, but please keep in mind that there are no guarantees. We try very hard to honor the friend requests for the younger divisions. Do not plan for friends to be together until you are contacted by your coach after the draft.
When will I know what team we’re on?
Following the draft on October 18th, coaches will contact all players on their respective teams.
How do I let CYBA know we aren’t available for practice on certain days?
On the registration form you can note practice conflicts. Coaches set their own practice schedules so if they know a player isn’t available on the days he/she wants to practice, then he won’t draft that player.
Do you have a travel program?
Yes! We have several travel teams coached by volunteer coaches for players from 4th through 8th grades. See the CYBA calendar for the travel tryout information
How do I sign up to be a referee or scorekeeper?
Referees and Scorekeepers are available to High School students and older. Candidates will have a solid understanding of basketball and its rules. Candidates will go through a thorough training program before the season begins. For more information contact the Referee Director listed in the link for Board Members.
Do you offer player scholarships?
We do offer a limited number of player scholarships; however, in exchange, we ask for volunteer hours. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact our League President, Fred Pscion.
How can I get more involved with CYBA?
Our league is 100% run by volunteers, and we are always looking for potential Board Members and suggestions. Please contact our President Fred Pscion for more information or ideas.
